 Practice Areas

REAL PROPERTY TRANSACTIONs

RLG represents both commercial and residential property owners concerning: Boundaries, brokers, construction, contracts, CC&R’s, disclosures, easements, evictions, financing, improvements, landlord-tenant, leasing, permits, sales, and title matters. We specialize in For Sale By Owner (FSBO) transactions. We strive to draft documents in a timely and collaborative manner.

REAL ESTATE Litigation

RLG’s litigation practice mirrors the areas covered by our transactional practice. Due to its adversarial nature, litigation is both expensive and uncertain. Accordingly, we endeavor to resolve cases at the earliest opportunity, usually in mediation. Our transactional experience makes us particularly well-suited to understand the process from start to finish. We are keenly aware that there are times when only a final decision by a court will resolve a dispute, and are ready and capable to try cases through final judgment.

LAND USE

RLG represents both commercial and residential property owners before public agencies as part of the entitlement process. We specialize in matters involving:  Planning approvals, code enforcement, conditional use permits, building permits, general plans, house elements, tree and view claims. Land use matters often represent a confluence between law and politics. As long-term residents of Marin County, the attorneys at RLG utilize their local knowledge to achieve client results.

mediation

Len Rifkind has represented more than 400 clients in mediations as an advocate. As a mediator, he changes tactics from advocate-mode to empathetic problem solver, relying in part on 33 years of experience in real property law matters, and in part on his charismatic people skills garnered from years of public service to help the parties reach resolution. Len’s mediator skills are highly sought after in cases where the emotions run hot and significant damages are at stake.
